Our newspaper is a living chronicle of "Dneprospetsstal". Which is not surprising as they are the same age. The first issue of our company newspaper "Stalinets'" came out in 1932. Unfortunately, back issues from those years as well as the entire pre-war archives no longer survive.
During the World War Two our steel mill and its workforce were relocated to the country's hinterland in Russia. That spelled a ten-year hiatus in the newspaper's life.
The rebirth of the publication happened in 1952. That was when, in response to the request from management and public organizations directed to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine, the decision was made to re-start publication of the company newspaper.
In 1957 the newspaper was christened with its current name "Elektrometallurg".
Over the dozens of years of its existence, our newspaper experienced the same ups and downs as the company. Today "Elektrometallurg" consists of twelve pages and is published weekly. Its print run is seven thousand copies. Our readership includes not only the current employees of "Dneprospetsstal" but retirees as well.
